Last year while photographing one of my all-time favourite weddings (Karen and JP) I was introduced to Andy and Mae. I didn’t have much time to get to know them that night, but as I was going through photos from the wedding I kept seeing this adorable couple in the photos who obviously couldn’t get enough of each other. Little did I know that one day I’d be photographing their engagement session in Victoria, BC.
Andy and Mae live on Vancouver Island near Sooke, BC. If you’ve been up that way you know that there are some awesome breweries, gorgeous seaside landscapes and when the weather is just right you can get some of the prettiest sunsets in BC. When we started talking about where they might want to start with photos Mae instantly knew that she wanted to start our engagement session at Royal Roads University where Andy first asked Mae to go steady (yes, he used those exact words, and yes my heart melted).
After finding all of the best light and three curious peacocks we took a 30 minute drive over to Cattle Point to catch a beautiful purple sunset. We braved jagged rocks, aggressive winds and a storm that threatened to unleash at any second and were rewarded with a stunning sunset for the end of their engagement session.
Thanks so much for such a fun and giggle-filled session you guys! I can’t wait for your wedding at Merridale!
