One of my favourite things about being a wedding photographer is that no two are the same. Some weddings are long days crammed with events and traditions carried down through generations. Some couples decide to elope on a riverbank with only their witnesses and an epic sunset to begin their journey together. And some couples, like Natalia and Brody, dream of an intimate, stylish wedding with only their closest friends and family to help celebrate their union. Each detail of this gorgeous outdoor Vancouver wedding at Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Gardens was very thoughtfully put together and perfectly reflected their stoic, elegant style.
One of my favourite elements of this sunset wedding was Natalia’s wedding dress, which was hand-made for her by her co-workers at Aritzia. I had absolutely no warning that I would be capturing such an elegant dress so when I walked into her room at the Pan Pacific Hotel my jaw absolutely DROPPED. This dress is absolutely one of a kind and still to this day I dream about how exquisitely it fit her. Tanya McCool styled Natalia to perfection and I couldn’t keep my eyes off Natalia all day.
When Natalia and I met for the first time she wanted to book me for just the ceremony and family portraits, but as soon as I saw how elegant she and Brody looked and how perfect the light was in the gardens I pretty much begged them to do 15 minutes of portraits after the ceremony. Thankfully they were totally down and the images we captured are some of my all time favourites.
Thanks for being a dream to work with, Natalia and Brody!
