When I hear that clients are planning a dreamy boho wedding out in the forest in the middle of nowhere on Canada Day long weekend my first thought is usually “Oh man, it’s gonna be a hot one!”. What I never expect is to end up with not only torrential rain, but pounding hail that puts us up to our ankles in freezing cold water for 12 straight hours. But, that’s exactly what happened when Robyn and Chris’ sunny summer day turned quickly into a very rainy wedding an hour down a fire road just outside of Kelowna, BC.
But, even then, Robyn, Chris and their amazing guests smiled, laughed, and made the best of it all day long. Nicole from Dreamy Weddings and Event Planning jumped into action immediately to save vintage sofas, delicate flowers, outdoor seating areas that were meant for chillin’ in the warm sunshine and turned the dinner tent into an epic, cuddly hangout space that kept everyone dry while Robyn, Chris and I stood out in the pouring rain to grab what photos we could in between waves of teeth-rattling shivers.
To say that these two made the day feel as warm as any day in July is an understatement. Their absolute chill level, their radiant love, and their beaming smiles even while the rain pounded them gave me a whole new outlook on how to deal with the unexpected during a wedding day. Enchanted Forest vibes turned sopping wet dance party? No problem. Not anymore.
Thank you Robyn, Chris, and all of the vendors for making this rainy Kelowna wedding feel like a warm little hug all day long (even if my feet were soaked and I couldn’t stop blowing my nose). XOXO
