Sometimes, when you least expect it, you find yourself on a last minute ferry headed to one of your favourite Gulf Islands because, if we’ve learned anything over the span of Covid, it’s that sometimes life throws you curveballs. Luckily for me those curveballs look like a small group of beautiful humans gathered together for an intimate wedding at Discovery Islands Lodge on Quadra Island.
Sarah and Evan called me just a couple of weeks before their wedding. Covid had thrown wrenches in their plans multiple times and at long last it was time to throw caution (and current restrictions) to the wind to host a family-only wedding, rain or shine.
The Discovery Islands Lodge on Quadra Island was the perfect setting for their entirely DIY Gulf Island wedding. They spent the morning with their families setting up decor, doing their own hair and makeup, and Evan even made the cake (though it ended up having a bit more… character than he’d hoped for). We even managed to dodge the rain until dinner time where we hid under tents near heaters and danced the night away.
This, my friends, is what a dream wedding looks like.
