If you’ve been daydreaming about a weekend getaway for your wedding or you’re looking for a way to incorporate your love of BC and show it off to your out of town guests then look no further than this wedding at Gibsons Farm and Gibsons Public Market for your low-key, DIY Gibsons wedding inspo.
Marlena and Clay knew that they wanted to really show of BC’s beauty to the guests that they had coming in from ALL over the world and in my opinion there is no better way to show off BC than a Gulf Island or Sunshine Coast wedding. Each town along the sunshine coast or on the Gulf Islands seems to have their very own distinct vibe and Gibsons is by far one of my favourites for a lively time surrounded by nature but also a ton of great restaurants and shops. It’s a short ferry ride away, is accessible wether you have a car or not and has all the amenities to make sure your guests stays are comfortable and full of fun activities.
Marlena and Clay opted for my new favourite wedding venue in Gibsons, the Gibsons Farm. They had goats and chickens and miniature ponies and the MOST beautiful grounds for an outdoor ceremony. It’s a very down-to-earth venue that would suit anybody looking for an elevated backyard wedding vibe.
From there we moved the party to the Gibsons Public Market for a mac n cheese bar (omg, HUGE hit!) and the BEST dance floor of 2024. Marlena and Clay included an “Hora Loca” (crazy hour) into their late night party and… well, you just need to scroll to see the photos. There were costumes, there were inflatable flamingos, there was… insanity.
But besides all of the dancing and thought put into making it the best weekend possible for their guests M&C also made sure to prioritize quiet time together on their wedding day which (I know from experience) can be the difference between remembering the details of your wedding day yourselves or waking up the next day feeling like it all went by too fast. We went for a nice little sunset walk on the beach for photos, then I left them alone to watch the sun set together before we returned for the real party that was waiting.
Now on to the photos!
